Membership & Rules
MEMBERSHIP Membership is offered on an annual basis at the following fixed rates:-
£37.50 Per Person
£32.50 Per Additional Member Of One Family
£5.00 Juniors (Under 18) and students
£2.00 Visitors (price per session)
Please note that there is a 70p fee for refreshments.
COMPETITION RULES
1.The Committee will determine the number of Club competitions. Set subjects and number of entries per competition, will be announced at the Annual General Meeting.
2.Entries for competitions will only be accepted from paid-up Members of the Club.
3.Members can submit no more than two entries per section in the Picture of the Year Competition.
4.All entries in the Points Competition are to be marked out of 10, and will be cumulative in each relative class.
5.A competition list of all the Members’ points is to be compiled, and an updated list is to be put on the Notice Board the week following each Competition. The list should be in alphabetical order. At the end of the season, the points will be totalled in order to ascertain the position of the Entrants in each class.
6.All work submitted must be the copyright of the Author, i.e. all of the images must have been taken by the Author.
7.Entering images into Club competitions constitutes agreement that they can be displayed on the Club's website.
8.An image submitted in one class may not be entered in another class in Points Competitions.
9.Entry Forms may be obtained from the Competition Secretary, or downloaded from the Club’s website throughout the Season, and must be submitted with each entry.
10.The points awarded to each Print will be recorded on the Entry Form and on the reverse of each Print. Digital Projected Images are each given a number, and the points will be recorded against the relevant number.
11.Any entry receiving 6 points or less in a Competition may be re-entered into another Points Competition.
12.All Prints must bear the Author’s name, the Title, and state whether Monochrome or Colour. This information must be inserted in the TOP LEFT-HAND CORNER on the reverse of the Print only. (See definition of Monochrome at end of rules). Prints will be required by 7.20p.m. on the evening of the Competition, or can be handed in, the week before, to the Competition secretary.
13.Digital Images for Projection should be submitted on a C.D. or USB Flash drive, which should be labelled with the Author’s name. Images may also be emailed to the nominated Member. The Title and Author’s name must also be added to the “properties” of each image. All images must be submitted by the Friday of the week before the Competition date.
14.Work may be Home or Trade processed.
15.All work must have been produced within the last THREE years of the Competition. (The date an image was produced will rank as the commencement date for the three year rule).
16.Work submitted for any Club Competition will be kept for selection to use in Outside Club Competitions. The work will be kept for one week after the Competition, and will then be returned to the Author. The Selection Committee may request the work for future Outside Competitions.
17.Digital images are permitted in Natural History Competitions. The R.P.S. Rules will apply in this situation, i.e. there must not be any manipulation of the main subject, and only a small amount of tidying up of the surrounding area of the picture will be allowed.Domestic or farm animals are not permitted.
18.Work for the Picture of the Year Competition may have been submitted in previous Competitions.
19.There will be one class only for all Competitions.
20.Prints shall not be less than 25cm either horizontally or vertically, and the mount not more than 40cm x 50cm.
Digital Projected Images shall be either 1400px horizontally or 1050px vertically, resolution 72ppi, in the ‘JPEG’ format, and sRGB colour profile.
The dimensions may be subject to change.
MONOCHROME
Images of black through to white with shades of grey in between, but may be toned overall with a single colour.
DISPUTES
Should a category be disputed, the Competition Secretary will consult the author, to resolve the issue. If the dispute can not be resolved, the Competition Secretary’s decision will be final.
